What Do LifeGroups Do?
Every LG is different, but there are four things that all LGs do:
1) Hang Out regularly and talk about how each person in the group is doing
2) Read something that the group decides on together
3) Pray together at meetings and for one another between meetings
4) Serve together by participating in mission projects
Where and How Often Do LGs Meet?
LGs meet in homes. Some groups meet at the same home every time and others rotate. LGs set their own schedule, but most meet every other week during the school year.
What Happens at LG Meetings?
The goal is for members of LGs to look forward to meetings like they look forward to spending time with close friends. Groups typically eat dinner or have snacks at the beginning, are intentional about giving group members the opportunity to share what is going on in their lives, discuss their common reading, pray together, and talk about any service projects they are involved with.
What About the Kids?
One of the great things about LGs is that children have the opportunity to establish relationships just as signifiant and important as those of the parents! Childcare is provided in the home where the LG meets, and to help make childcare affordable the church works with the LG to find members of the HMUMC youth group to volunteer and/or find members of the church to help subsidize the cost of childcare. Our goal is for no one to be unable to participate due to the financial burden of childcare!
