Mission Meeting
Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church has always been committed to faithful and compassionate Mission Ministry. It is our belief we are to go into all of the world and proclaim Christ. How do we do this? By serving one person at a time—reaching our family, our neighbors, our community and the world.
The Mission teams plan and coordinate opportunities for the congregation to be involved in hands-on mission projects in the local community and throughout the world. Mission meetings are the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. and everyone is welcome to join.
Help envision outreach goals for the future. Prayerfully consider the needs of this community and your role in filling those needs. For more information on Mission Ministries and opportunities to serve, contact Tracy Goodbar at 770-945-3072 or Kathryn Welden at 770-945-4364.
"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
~Matthew 5:14-16
Reaching Across the Globe
Honduras
Several times a year a mission team travels to Honduras where they work to improve housing conditions and spread the love of Christ. Join others for one of the several Mission trips during the year.
Children of Africa
Support from Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church is ongoing for the Children of Africa. Through special offerings and hosting the Children of the World choir tour HMUMC has helped build two Samaritan Centers and continues to support the ongoing ministries for children and orphans with AIDS.
Mission Bahamas—Feeding 5,000
A Mission team will travel to the Bahamas to feed 5,000 brothers and sisters in October. Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church members and guests can join in support of this mission by feeding one or more people for $3 per person, and hygiene bags can be supplied for $2.50 per person. Watch the Sunday morning worship materials for opportunities to participate.
Food Drives Benefit Many
Throughout the year Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church members, guests and youth participate in canned food drives to benefit the Salvation Army, Lawrenceville Cooperative and North Gwinnett Cooperative.
Collections usually take place during the month of August, in October as part of the Fall Festival activities and during the holidays.
Mission Ministries Making a Difference
Operation Soldier Support is a ministry dedicated to supporting the troops of America and veterans who have served our country. Activities include collections of items for troops, support to veterans and monthly visits to Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. The airport visits are usually on the third Sunday of the month after the 11 a.m. worship service and families are welcome to join the team in support of the troops.
Eagle Ranch Boy’s and Girl’s Homes are supported each year through improvement project work days, youth activities with the residents and collection drives of items for basic needs.
Gwinnett Children’s Shelter receives support during Vacation Bible School each year with the collection of donated Birthday Party in a Bag gifts to support birthday celebrations throughout the school year. Undie Sunday is another collection which takes place in late summer to collect needed items for the boys and girls at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter before school starts.
Relay for Life and the 5k Fun Run/Walk are annual events usually in May to benefit the ongoing research in support of cancer patients of all ages.
The Builders Team Ministry is a hands-on mission team providing light construction and yard work for senior citizens or individuals in need.
One Person at a Time

Good Samaritan Fund is a fund the Mission Committee uses to help numerous families of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in times of crisis. Often these situations are confidential and the congregation-at-large is unaware of the many ways in which their contributions help serve those in need. Currently we are also partnering with the North Gwinnett Cooperative and Lawrenceville Cooperative to meet community needs as they arise.
Feeding the Hungry
On the last Monday of each month, excluding holidays, members travel to Atlanta to feed the women and children at the Women's Community Kitchen at Grace United Methodist Church.
At least two times a year a group prepares a meal for approximately 400 homeless guests in HMUMC’s kitchen and volunteers travel to Atlanta the next day to participate in feeding the guests at Trinity Soup Kitchen.

Sharing & Caring During Holidays
There are many ways to get involved during holiday times each year. The Choral and Musical Arts Ministries choirs assemble Easter baskets in the Spring donated by the congregation for the children at the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter.
Church members and guests sponsor Christmas Angels for the Salvation Army and donate shoeboxes full of gift items for Operation Christmas Child each Christmas. Also, Children’s Ministries collect gifts at the annual Birthday Party for Jesus for the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter in December.

Youth Get Involved
Youth Ministries offer mission opportunities for the youth to serve in the local community throughout the school year and get involved in longer mission projects in the summer. Opportunities are posted at www.hmsm.org. For more information, contact Director of Youth Ministries David Saine at 770-271-2445 or David.Saine@hmumc.org.
